room 413 (may 2026)
At 59%, the lowest score in this collection. Nothing about Room 413 was broken, unsafe or unclean — it simply declined, politely and consistently, to exceed the minimum in any category. The bathroom, at 52%, was where the minimum itself started to look optimistic.
TownePlace Suites Janesville, Room 413: A Room That Met the Brief and Stopped
The Bed: Present and Correct
Linens, mattress and pillows each returned three out of five — a flat, unanimous verdict of acceptable. Our reviewer slept. That is the extent of the claim being made.
The Room: Functional, Quiet, Charmless
63%, the highest of the four categories, which tells you where the bar sat. Cleanliness at 80% and noise at 80% were the strengths, and neither should be dismissed — a quiet, clean room is most of what an extended-stay property owes you.
Layout, view, workspace, HVAC and outlets all landed at 60%. Room style managed 40%, the joint-lowest mark of the stay. This is a room assembled from a catalogue, and it has never pretended otherwise.
The Bathroom: The Weak Link
52%, and the clear low point. Cleanliness was fine at 80%. Everything else was not: water pressure at 40%, towels at 40%, amenities at 40%, water temperature at 60%. A thin, cool shower and thin, sparse towels are a poor combination on a cold Wisconsin morning, and no amount of square footage elsewhere compensates for it.
The Hotel: Nothing to Report
The fitness centre was the surprise standout at 80% — genuinely the best thing on the property. Lobby, Wi-Fi, restaurants, business facilities, service and style all returned 60%, an almost impressively uniform result.
The location scored 40%. For a hotel of this type that is arguably the most consequential mark of all, since convenience is most of what it is selling. Room 413 did what it was built to do. It should not be asked to do more, and on this evidence it will not volunteer.
