room 530 (may 2026)
72%, with the categories arranged almost exactly backwards from expectation. The hotel scored higher than the room, and the room scored higher than the bed. The Rose Hotel is well set up for the working layover and rather less interested in what happens after you close the laptop.ย
The Rose Hotel Chicago O'Hare, Room 530: Built for the Layover, Not the Night
The Bed: The Weakest Link
67%, and the lowest category of the stay โ an unusual and unwelcome distinction. Linens and mattress both came in at 60%, with the pillows the sole bright spot at 80%. For a hotel whose entire clientele is arriving late and leaving early, under-investing in the bed is a curious strategic choice.
The Room: One Outstanding Feature, Otherwise Flat
The workspace scored a perfect 100%, and it is the room's single genuine strength โ a proper desk, properly lit, in a property where guests plainly need one. Cleanliness, HVAC and outlets all held at 80%.
After that the enthusiasm drains away: layout at 60%, view at 60%, noise at 60%, style at 60%. The room is competent and completely without personality, which for a Tapestry Collection property โ a brand built explicitly on distinctiveness โ is a slightly awkward result. A side note - the walls were strikingly bare.ย
The Bathroom: Fine, Thinly Supplied
Cleanliness, water pressure and water temperature each managed 80%, which covers the essentials. Towels and amenities both came in at 60%. The pattern is familiar from the room: the fixed infrastructure is sound, and the things that have to be replaced weekly are being replaced sparingly.
The Hotel: The Best of It
78%, and the strongest category โ a rare inversion. The location scored a perfect 100%, which for an O'Hare property is the whole argument and here properly earned. Lobby, Wi-Fi, fitness, business facilities and overall style each returned 80%.
The restaurants and the service both came in at 60%. So the building works, the desk works, and the runway is close. Just don't arrive expecting to be looked after, or to sleep especially well once you are.
